Today we spent most of the day at Oxford. We took a charter bus in the morning to the campus and a Danish Oxford graduate showed us around. We went to his college, Linacre College, which was essentially a dorm building with a nice courtyard. I was not familiar with how colleges work but it is similar to a Hogwarts house. He told us how the class structure works and what the admission process is like. For undergraduates, you are given a topic to write an essay about and then an expert from that field will read your work, critique it, and give you a grade. It sounds very stressful.
After telling us about Oxford, we had time to get lunch in the town. Our class ate at an international street food market. I had a falafel and spicy potato pita which was very good. We tried to go to the Harry Potter dining hall but you need a ticket and they sell out quick so we weren't able to go. Then, I went with some of my class to Turf Tavern, which is famous for being the pub where Bill Clinton smoked marijuana but did not inhale it. I did not know about this but apparently it was big news in the 90s. I had a banana old fashioned which I enjoyed. Then, we headed back home on the bus.
We didn't have a lot of time but I wanted to see Big Ben since I didn't get to see that yet. My roommate ended up coming with me and we got Thai food after. Then, we went to Mamma Mia. It was a lot of fun and even people who didn't think they would like it seemed to enjoy it. The show ended late so I headed home and went to bed after.
